Yesterday’s Columbus Day celebrations may have left you a little exhausted, but if not, consider using some of that unspent energy to spread the word about Open Access Day. Yeah!
Open Access Day, the first ever, has been organized by SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition), Students for FreeCulture, and the Public Library of Science and is a way to increase “awareness and understanding of Open Access, including recent mandates and emerging policies, within the international higher education community and the general public.” Can’t argue with that.
Check out the variety of Open Access promotional materials here and also look into watching a live, worldwide broadcast of today’s events (7pm Easter and Pacific). And if you have a moment, consider crafting a blog post that addresses the question: Why does Open Access matter to you?
